The usual story, know the tune, don't know the name. Bryan Duggan has a cracking little programme for name-hunters - just play the first few bars on the fiddle, and hey presto... Works nearly every time.
Actually, it was the only hit that Rev's tunefinder gave me based on the first four bars of the A part. And while the specific notes are different, the contour and chord progression of Katy is Waiting very closely match your snippet. It's not uncommon for two settings of the same tune to be similar but not identical.
No worries, though. I was only tossing up a possibility.
Well, if I can't help i.d. a tune, I can at least reveal a bug in the system. Reminds me of the consultant's creed: "If you can't help find a solution, at least there's money to be made prolonging the problem."

Re: Tune ID
It's called Billy McCormick's. I think I know it in A dor, from Paddy Cronin's 'Kerry's Own'.
Check out tunepal.org anyway if you're keen on finding the names.

Re: Tune ID
Miss Lonelyhearts I guess you put "FED E" into advanced search and picked the first Eminor jig to show up?
Look at the notes, your suggestion is nowhere near the tune that I want sorry
Thankyou Dragut Reis, much appreciated.

Re: Tune ID
Sorry Miss Lonelyhearts, I meant you must have copied the notes I said and put it in Reverend's Tune Search and picked the first one, nvm.

Re: Tune ID
It is, indeed Billy McCorm(a/i)ck's, shown in O'Neil's in Ador

And on thesession in G

Strangely, my tune search doesn't find it, even in the contour search. That one will be interesting to debug if I get a chance
