Hi all,
played in a session in pontoise, the fiddler said she learned it on a Zoe Conway 's album.. I think this is this one :
X:1
T: Fiddler's Hickey
M:4/4
R:Polka
S: Zoe Conway
K:A
A>B ca ce c/B/A |E/F/G AE GB Bc|A>B ca ce c/B/A | 1 e/f/e/c/ BdcA Aa:|2 e/f/d/c/ BdcA Ae||
a>f ea fe ce|a>f eA cB Be|1 a>f ea fe cf| e/f/e/c/ BdcA Ae:|2 a>f ea fe cf| e/f/e/c/ BdcA Aa:||
No match in this site or in the the reverend's one...I put it on abc this evening from the recording of ZC.
oh god, please post it with 4 measures per line, If I read one more abc with 5 or more measures per line with repeats in the middle of the lines I will go crazy
Put the first four bars on the 1st line and then the second half of the 1st part on the 2nd line including the repeats. Do the same for the 2nd part. In total your tune will cover 4 lines with the 2nd and 4th line looking longer. It just helps lots of ABC programs with the rendering of the sheet music.
X:1
T: Fiddler's Hickey
M:4/4
L:1/8
R:Polka
S: Zoe Conway

Thanks for your help
It's the first tune I submit and I don't want to make a mistake.

Never mind thesession.org. In the real world polkas are in 2/4 as well. Always.
I would say what you are after is more like this:
X:1
T: Fiddler's Hickey
M:2/4
L:1/8
R:Polka
S: Zoe Conway
K:A
|: A>B ca | ce c/B/A | E/F/G AE | GB Bc |
A>B ca | ce c/B/A |1 e/f/e/c/ Bd | cA Aa :|2 e/f/d/c/ Bd | cA Ae|
|: a>f ea | fe ce | a>f eA | cB Be |
| a>f ea | fe cf |1 e/f/e/c/ Bd | cA Ae :|2 e/f/e/c/ Bd | cA Aa ||
You don't need to have 4 bars in your 1st and 2nd time bars as there is no difference in the first two. There is actually no difference in the first 3 but I think it looks better having 2 bars in the repeat rather than 1.
Can I submit this tune ?

Re: Can I submit this tune ?
Good tune. I don't know about the repeats at the end, though: they make the second part play through twice.

Re: Can I submit this tune ?
Nice tune! But since it's a polka I think it should be in 2/4? Something like:
M:2/4
L:1/8
K:A
A>B ca | ce c/B/A |E/F/G AE | GB Bc | ...
I say go ahead and submit it to the database!

Re: Can I submit this tune ?
Hi Earl Cameron, you mean 4 measures per line in 2/4 without the |1 and |2 ?
(thanks to gam and Pontus, I will correct)

Re: Can I submit this tune ?
always 4 measures per line, no matter what signature. with |1 and |2 though there should be 5 measures in that line.
