When I tried to search for a recording I entered her name , no result, when I put in O Brien it came up. can any one explain why it didn't pick up the apostrophe version?
I did a search for "Michelle" - 2 came up, and she was one of them. As I said before, it's usually best to keep your searches simple, especially if there are apostrophes involved.
Similarly, searching for Brien will find Michelle but will also return dozens of other O'Briens, with and without apostrophes. When searching we have to recognise that computers are looking for literal matches of groups of characters and sometimes adapt our criteria to cover most possibilities.
Non-alphanumeric characters can cause problems in searches, depending on how the search is implemented. Backslashes, single and double quotes, question marks, asterixen, all have special meanings in some context or another in some computer format or other, and since user interfaces are usually designed to hide the underlying mechanics, you can't always tell which characters you have to be careful of.

Re: Michelle O'Brien
Simples. The person who posted the album here didn't include the apostrophe in Michelle's surname when he listed it. Have it out with him or her!

You can also try Michelle O'Brien in a search on thesession homepage. The top of the list has one of her recordings.
