In 'The Guardian', Tony Russell contributes an obituary of Charles Alexander (Sandy) Paton who died last July aged 80.
An American folk muso of the mid-1950's, Sandy performed with his wife Caroline (cutting four albums), was an active field collecter of songs, and his master stoke was co-founding 'Folk-Legacy' _ a classic record company, putting out 120 albums in uniform 'black and white' sleeves, so instantly known.
The Paton's services to the world of folk music was recognised in several awards from the likes of the 'California Traditional Music Society' and in 1993 they were made ''Official State Troubadours'' in Connecticut.
