There's no such thing as a treble jig. The step dancers made it up, it's just a normal jig played VEH-REE SUH-LOW-LEEE! (Sorry, couldn't resist...running for cover now, bye!)
I find that playing treble jigs gives me a chance to play a particular jig which have a certain degree of difficulty when played at the normal double jig speed. The Knights of St Patrick for example to name but one.,
There is a series of CDs called "Sets & Solos" produced by dance teacher, Olive Hurley, which would give you the names of tunes used for treble jigs.
On volume 2, for example, there is: Connachtman's Ramble, A Visit to Ireland, Coopers and Brass, Eavesdropper.
You could check out the contents of other CDs at http://www.olivehurley.com/
I am glad to see other ID music fans here!
One of the fav's here in the Midwest Region is Woods of Old Limerick -- made especially popular on the mega hit ID recording by Bradley Bros, 100%
As I understand from the Olive Hurley videos a "treble" in hard shoe step dancing is a foot movement where one foot is in front of the other and the dancer hits the floor with a quick toe-heel-toe movement with that front foot. It is very fast, like a bowed treble on the fiddle, which I think is why the step dancers use the term. It is doubly effective because hard shoes are used.
Anyone know any good Treble Jigs?
Anyone know any good Treble Jigs?
Does anyone know of any good treble jigs... for hard shoe treble jigs. I'd like to find some to choreograph to some hard shoe steps.
Thanks!

Re: Anyone know any good Treble Jigs?
I usually fall back on My Darling Asleep when the girls with the curls want to do a treble jig.

Re: Anyone know any good Treble Jigs?
Treble is a type of dance, not a type of tune. It is accompanied by a double jig, played at the appropriate pace....

Thanks for the replies, guys and gals. I do know that a "treble" jig is a dance. I wanted the names of tunes played for treble jigs (as in the dance).

And when the girls with the curls ask for a "heavy jig", don't play a jig - they probably want a hornpipe.
