That's gonna be a tough one, unless you happen to run into the person who wrote it yesterday. Positiveley STINKS of "Look at me, I can write an Irish tune!" A bit too new & a bit too clever for my taste, but I'm one of of those hardcore "traddies" yer mother warned you about. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a Tony O'Sullivan tune, just based on the banjo connection & the "modern/clever" writing style. Hope that points you in the right direction. Good luck!
A bit forgettable I'm afraid and will never join the classics such as Cooley's, Lady Ann, Maude Millar or the Shaskeen already mentioned above. Sorry for the rant but it's part of the syndrome of the 20,000 or so trad tunes out there, the majority of which are also forgettable - now running for cover!!
Whoa there lads we were asked a simple question. If you don't know the tune there's no need to get shirty about it ! I think it's a fine tune whether written yesterday or a couple of hundred years ago and the lads certainly know how to play. And considering what's written in your biog jaychoons I'm rather surprised at your comment. Your not above writing a tune in the 'trad' style yourself it seems.
Sorry Whangee I don't have a name for this one but don't be disheartened by others comments they just sound a little jaded to me

Re: Tune ID
Thanks, but that's the name of the poster, not what's played.
