Hey there gang... at 3:08 in this lovely little set, Martin starts on a minor reel that bears no small resemblence to the Earl's Chair... well, except the notes differ slightly in the first part, and the second part is totally different. Is this the Earl's Other Chair or some other reel altogether? If so, what is it? T'anks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuf14RbdOlw&feature=related
It's the Earls Chair alright, played pretty much as I know it. Piano player plays minor, personally i much prefer the standard D accompaniment for that tune.
Gabe O'Sullivan playing the Chair: http://sounds.bl.uk/View.aspx?item=025M-C1005X0006XX-1000V0.xml Rather unusual setting, or the usual one is debased, perhaps? Seem to recall that a friend who played with Cooley and Kevin Keegan back when had a setting that differed in spots from the norm, too.
The Earl's Other Chair?

Re: The Earl's Other Chair?
That's the same Earls Chair we play around East Clare.

Re: The Earl's Other Chair?
Oops, my mistake - I was listening to the wrong bit of the video. It's the Earl's Chair all right.

That's the Earl's Chair as I know it. Thanks for the video link drone. That's the best piece of music I've heard from Martin Hayes. Mighty stuff!
