Can anyone identify the tune that is called "The mist on the mountain" in the "Secret of Roan Inish" sound track, "Hewlett's" in "After hours at McGann's" by Gaelic Storm and "Ferrell Ogera's Favorite" by ITM musicians in the area. I can't find music to it anywhere.
llig, sometimes people like to know the names of the tunes they play, even if they've learned them by ear...
I've gotten to the point where I play a bunch of things that I don't know the name of, and it drives me crazy. So while I learn absolutely everything by ear, I try to keep a list of the tunes that I know I've learned, because it's nice to be able to answer when someone asks you what that tune you just played was...
You'll notice that scordion didn't ask for a transcription, or the sheet music. He (or she) just asked for identification of the tune...
So why not be a "glass is half full" guy, and just assume the best of people, instead of the worst?

"The Mist On The Mountain" is usually called "Mist Covered Mountain," a Junior Crehan tune.
