I'm thinking of buying a van/minibus in the UK to cart the band and PA equipment to and from gigs. I'd like to insure it for business use but lots of companies wont touch "entertainers". Can anybody recommend good (and even cheap) insurance companies?
Try Musicians Insurance Services on 01629 760101. I have used them for years to insure my instruments, but they say they do motor insurance as well. They specialise in Folk musicians, or they used to.
I did get car insurance from Privilege which expressly included being a folk musician but in fact with all these e-policies around at the moment I have found that they don't seem to be so fussed about you being a musician (as long as it's not your main job).

When I renew my car insurance I'm often asked, on the phone, what I do.
What always happens is that they take the easiest option of finding a category that I fit in. I do my best to tell them the truth, and they prefer to find an easier category to put me in. I've informed them, I've fulfilled my part of the bargain, and they do something else. So I'm registered as whatever, and that's it.
Daft but true.
