Upload - Paddy Breen

Here's another one for you, the West Clare whistle and flute player Paddy Breen, recorded in 1950 by Peter Kennedy.

The sound quality's not too good and I've tried to eradicate as much of the background tape hum as possible without losing the higher frequencies.

The track listing is here - http://www.folktrax-archive.org/menus/cassprogs/078breen.htm - but I've absolutely no idea what an 'Orcon flute' is.

I hope you enjoy it.

Re: Upload - Paddy Breen

Thanks, Kevin,

Kennedy's spelling of the instrument's name was typically inaccurate.

Re: Upload - Paddy Breen

Ibid likewise what they said! File next to Billy Conroy, John Doonan, Jim Donoghue, Murty Rabbit, Myles O'Malley, Micho Russell. Old timers with whistles and piccolos, beautiful chirpy music.

Looked around for a picture of an Orcon flageolet, too; were they affiliated with the pest control company...?

Re: Upload - Paddy Breen

By the way, don't be tempted to download the 'unreleased Bothy Band' album on my MediaFire site. It's just a bit of fun at the expense of the leechers (who'd have to be fans of the man in the red fez to appreciate it).

Re: Upload - Paddy Breen

Thanks again. Its beginning to feel greedy downloading each one when I have only had chance to listen to the previous one a couple of times.
