So I know most of you don't like Celtic Rock, etc, etc., but I'm trying to find the name of the trad tune played in Glenngarry Bhoys' song, Bonnie Broom. I heard another fiddler playing the same tune in a set at Dublin Irish Festival over the weekend. I had originally thought the GB wrote the tune for that song, but obviously not. Anyone know?
Yes well when I posted before I had only seen the video on a computer with very quiet speakers. I couldn't appreciate the Glengarry Bhoys in all their glory...
...I still dont have a clue what the song was about though.
Only getting to listen to all the clips properly now. June Tabor's version is actually very creepy! I like it but I think I am going to need to hide behind the sofa.
June Tabor frequently sounds dark and gloomy. I love her voice, but after a whole album, can sometimes feel that life is nasty, brutish and short. On her last album, though, Andy Cutting did a great job perking up the overall tone with his melodeon accompaniment, which helped balance the mood.
Does anyone know the name of this tune?

The Ferret (or at least part of it, aka Andy Renwick's Ferret)
You can find it here:

At first I thought the song would be this:

But alas not.
As far as the tune Andy Renwick's Ferret goes it is far better hearing the original (the middle tune):

Well done No Cause, nearly chocked on my soup when I heard that first clip. Gordon Duncans own version is so much better than the dots posted here.
