What mix of instruments are you aiming to have in your band? What audience are you aiming for? Dancers? Irish Music lovers? festival goers? or drinkers in pubs? (I have played for pub goers and trust me it is no fun when they get drunk and all they want to hear is the fields of athenry) Are you going to do mostly songs or a mixture of tunes and songs?
my wife thinks a good name for a band is sham rock...she says it with a straight face (it conjures up a Spinal Tap like movie in my head based upon an Irish Trad band)...but she does play fiddle and is from manchester...I'd die before using a name like that. but then i wouldn't have picked 'The Chieftains' either...
I play whistles, a mate plays banjo, we may also have a guitarist and maybe a singer and maybe a bodhran player and maybe a mandolin player and maybe a box player. A lot of maybe`s !,
We are looking for any musicians and singers that don`t have huge ego`s.
I hope to play pubs, festivals, folk clubs etc. mainly traditional stuff but obviously a few songs too.
Mate and myself play together (him pipes me box Piano accordion) mostly tunes - live in Rochdale - looking for something oursleves Where you up to? Phil

Do you pay family moving expenses? There's only three of us...and a horse (and the horse must come with).
Seriously though, good luck finding folks, and I wish you the best.

It is too far south for me. What instrument(s) do you play beltane?
Better luck in the responses to this thread than you got the other day when you asked the same question.
