The first rule of Trad Club................

The first rule of Trad Club................

Just had an idea after suggestions on an earlier thread about using tunes as a kind of gladatorial combat, kind of like Fight Club, for people to settle their grievances.

What do ye reckon? Replace the violence with sniping and sneaky triplets maybe?

Youtube could help overcome the geographical obstacles.

Any suggestions?

(I'm Brad Pitt obviously......)

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

Llig, I've just left Helena Bonham Carter upstairs. I'm here in my leather jacket playing a few tunes in the kitchen ready to do damage...

Great idea T, and a great film. Feel the testosterone!

Here's SWFL Fiddler in May

Re: Session Behaviour - The Ennis Consensus

1. You do not talk about the session.
2. You DO NOT talk about the session.
3. If someone goes limp, says 'stop', or taps out, the set is over.
4. Only two guys in a set at the same time.
5. One set of tunes at a time.
6. No shirts and no shoes.
7. Sets will go on for as long as they have to.
8. If this is your first night at the session, you HAVE to play.

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

Don't worry T. That thread was back in May. This is just the start. There's loads more mileage in Trad Club surely......

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

Maybe if we got some of the fired up people off that Choonz thread!

(I'll just go down now and tell them to come up...)

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

Ed Norton's a twerp.

But if someone's gonna throw down, then you can't beat a four voice accordion for heavy blows. It's durable and versatile: with straps it makes nice midsection body armor, or swing it around the head for a killer mace.

(Lose two points for additional weight.)

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

The talk about instruments as weaponry reminded me of this thread from 2005:

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

I find a nice tenor banjo with a big resonator to make an excellent club when swung by the neck, for whatever that's worth. Still looking for my split personality though, even if just for a brief visit with Mrs. Burton.

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

Tenor banjo players make effective clubs when swung by the neck too. Even better if swung by the ankles

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

Hey Ian, remember I was the guy who had to drag the banjo wielding nutter offa the poor Traveller. and i also recall another time where Two likely lads beat a fast retreat when they realised i was wearing steelies and carrying my trusty old British broadcaster. Actually they are much better with out the resonator, the ash hoop and steel trimmings are quite enough to deter aggressors . ;-)

Re: The first rule of Trad Club................

"I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members." ... Grouch Marx, and oh so applicable here.
