Re: Lorient Festival Interceltique 2009 accommodation
Hi ,
Everything is always almost booked several months before , campings , hotels , village club , the first et biggest celtic festival attracts more than 500 000 people each year.
If you're looking for camping , have a look there : http://www.lorient-tourisme.com/ , you will find and the best choice is campings in Ploemeur , just next to Lorient.
And don't worry about transport , there are buses every day and night til two o'clock in the morning.
Camping on the beach or public places is not a good idea , it was tolerated 15 or 20 years ago but not anymore. You could have problems.
I hope you'll enjoy the festival , if you want to know something else , don't hesitate.

contact the Irish contingent committee - if you are a musician they sometimes put you up in the school with all the performers - I did that a few times or talk nicely to Padraig in the Galway Inn - I slept on his pool table manys the time!!!
Re: Lorient Festival Interceltique 2009 accommodation
And if the irish contigent committee can't help you , you have no place to sleep.
Iwerzon , when did you sleep in the shools during the festival because i know that they are stricter on the controls now.
Talking to Padraig in the Galway Inn is a good idea , look at his website.
Re: Lorient Festival Interceltique 2009 accommodation
I stayed in the school about 7 years ago, guest of the committee. I stayed in a more central hotel in recent years. My mates got a decent hotel mid festival right in the middle of Lorient last year and they only arrived during the festival!!!!!
Re: Lorient Festival Interceltique 2009 accommodation
Thanks to everyone for responding! Looks like we might be able to get a spot a camp site, so keeping my fingers crossed. Good to know that there are buses running to the neighboring towns.
Thanks again -- I hope everyone who's going has a great time!
Re: Lorient Festival Interceltique 2009 accommodation
Really ? I heard or read nothing about that in the newspapers, he was still there two weeks ago and some friends saw him yesterday evening at the session.
And nothing has changed on the website.

Lorient Festival Interceltique 2009 accommodation
Hi folks,
A few months I made sure to buy some train tickets for this festival, but somehow completely (and regrettably) forgot to book accomodation.
Anyway, it seems to be booked solid except for a few places about 30 kms off. As I don't have a car that's not going to work out too well.
Anyway, does anyone know if they tolerate camping on the beach or some other public places? Thanks a lot for your help!

I hope its rumours - I'm heading over in a few weeks and the Galway was always a quiet haven away from the crazyness.
