Looking for a video...

Looking for a video...

Some time ago a friend of mine gave me a copy of a set dance shown on "Come west along the road".

It was a dance in couples... in a round formation... danced to "Over the moor to maggie" played as a hornpipe.

It's a long shot... but does anyone either have this video... or know a link to it on youtube? Unfortunately I can't remember the name of this dance.

Cheers

Re: Looking for a video...

Was it on the DVD?

Over the Moor to Maggie as a hornpipe with set dancers is ringing a bell. I seem to remember a You Tube clip but I can't remember what the key words were to locate it.

Re: Looking for a video...

It wasn't the dvd that i got a copy of (altho it may well be on there) It was just a collection of clips that was given to me which included this particular dance.

Thanks for the link tho. It looks like something I should get my hands on anyway!

Re: Looking for a video...

The main reason i'm asking this is because i'm after a few set dances that are simple and easy to teach to a room full of dancers for a ceili etc.

I know most of the dances out of the "An rince foirne" book for competitive step dancers but most of these (with a few exceptions) are quite difficult to teach on the fly.

I remember the dance done to "over the moor" as being quite simple. Any other examples people can give would be appreciated too!

Re: Looking for a video...

I remember having a look at this a while back, I recall that the dance was composed I think by a lady by the name of Therese O'Hailpin from Co.Clare and it was a video from the 1960s. At least that's my recognition of it.

Good tune! I have played along with Ryan more than a few times to learn the song.

Best Wishes
