Taking a quick sample of the last ten recordings submitted, seven revealed "no matches found" by the Amazon search, and also seven had no label/date of issue information.
In some instances, there is no way of knowing if the listing is for a new CD, or for an out-of-print LP.
Assuming that the submitter has the recording to hand, would it not be simple to include some more information to allow others to trace the recording?
Many people who submit 'new' albums to the Recordings section provide no discographical information whatsoever and often too you'll find albums there which have absolutely nothing to do with this board (viz. http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/3370).
It's probably too late now for Jeremy to do anything about it, but the way around the problem would have been to include a simple 'Label/Cat. No./Date' template in the submissions form.
Furthermore, if someone was motivated to list a recording, why wouldn't they explain briefly, in "comments" why they chose to present the item?
I ordered a CD last week, solely on the recommendation of the submitter. Listing a recording which is not easily traceable, and which has no comments attached, seems rather pointless.
I agree : a recording submitted should have the label and the series number, at least... and a comment on the issuing date... I was amazed to see Pumpkinhead as " a new recording"....i.e.

Re: "Submit A Recording": A suggestion
Nikita,
I clearly did not list Pumpkinhead as 'a new recording'! Read the first line of my comments upon the album.
