Does anyone know the locations of any current Tuesday night sessions in Glasgow. I was mad for a tune tonight (haven't played properly since Sun and my flatmates were not impressed with the idea of hearing the pipes after 10pm) so in a completely joneseing sort of way I tried to find the places where sessions used to be when I used to be in the city more random days of the week, and, after getting horribly lost and driving in circles for a while, discovered that the sessions in question had died.
Hi TSS - have you tried the Failte Bar? I've never been myself, though tried to go last year once when I was in Glasgow on a Tue, but there was an old firm match on, so the session was cancelled that particular night. I'd be interested to hear what it's like if you go.
So your flatmates weren't impressed with the idea of hearing pipes after ten P.M.? What's wrong with them? Don't they like Irish music as much you do?(just kidding)
Doesn't solve the problem of there (seemingly) being no place to go for tunes on a Tuesday night. When is that session of Ruairidh's (if that is still going)?
You can remove the day that it is listed as being on and a line should appear through the listing to say it has ended. In this case though it would require gan_ainm to do that and I don't know who that is. I have left a comment on the session to say it has ended though.
There is the session in the Arlington bar on Tuesdays - I have never been to it, so have no idea as to the standard.
Wintersgills on Great Western Road has a session on Tuesdays, it is mostly a singing session but tunes players were welcome. I have not been to it since last summer, but it still appears to be running - according to the pub's website.
the session tha moved from lismore to oran mor was the wed session. there was music in the om on other nights but not sure how trad or open any sessions on other nights might have been

It was a great session in Failte - the pub pulled it a few months ago though. Apparently they were not that keen on Irish music in an Irish bar.

I wouldn't imagine pipes after 10pm is something to do to flatmates of 24 hours! I agree that treading lightly is probably the best approach.

When I lived in an apartment (or flat), I was allowed to practice only between nine a.m. and nine P.M. during the day.

I don't think there is a session in Glasgow on a Tuesday night. Glasgow is not like Edinburgh. It is all about quality, not quantity!
