Is this Martin McMahon, the box player from Clare? Lived in West London for years (round the corner from me and I never knew), now living somewhere near Milltown Malbay? Plays in a band with his wife?
I'm not aware of any recordings, but someone who knows him better might know otherwise.
Martin has been on the ITM scene a long time. First came across him playing at a Ceoltas session at the Elephant & Castle London in the early sixties, and a lovely box player he was too. Along with a drummer and his wife Theresa on keyboards they had a trio called 'The Caravelles' and worked the London pub and Irish club circuit for years......had a reel to reel tape of him once, but can't ever remember seeing a proper recording of him. I seem to remember the trio appearing in a programe on the telly in the seventies.
That's the Martin McMahon I meant - I should have included more information. There was a youtube video where you could see him for a moment, but it's gone now. Thanks all - and FR, let me know if you find that reel to reel tape!
I met him about 5 years ago, during Willie Clancy Week. He had just finished a gig with his band and was in the middle of packing up, when he got sidetracked and ended up sitting on the step of the van, playing great music for the next 4 hours or more - and he a man well into his 60s. He was still going when I finally surrendered and turned in at around 5am - I was only listening.

Are there any recordings of Martin McMahon?

Re: Martin McMahon
The last I heard was that Martin and Theresa McMahon lived in Shannon and were playing, as The Caravelles, at gigs around Clare.
