okay, so as I look at all the possible scholarships out there, I never see any for musicians who do not plan on majoring in music. WHAT GIVES??? If anyone knows about any scholarships, can you please respond to this? THANKS!

Not sure where you are, but we have scholarships for chorale and instrumentalists at our school and we don't have a music major. They are a far cry from "full ride", but help... I'm at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, WV. If you're going to a small college, look into things like worship teams (we call it "Music Ministry") and pep bands.
They've got some at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. But like the university plunk111 mentioned, it doesn't have a music major at all. Never heard of one at a university with a music major program.
Really, fuzzygreen? My other post was mostly joking.
This is an interesting option.... In all my funding searches I never considered "Poor struggling folkie who needs to fund a PhD in the history of psychiatry" as a legitimate scholarship category. Maybe I should.
Yep, they've got a couple through the Community Music Centre (what's left of the music department the university once had). They're audition-based and need-based, and cover up to half tuition.
Hmm, my friend at Richmond University has a music scholarship, but she's minoring in it and majoring architecture. You could search about and try for that! Good luck!
Armand....your freind has an amazing calling. She will have a choice of being a starving musician or a starving architect. When I went to school, they didn't give many scholarships for either avocation.
In my career, the music has been much more stable than architecture.........sad commentary. And, I have never had a bride sue me for a professional liability after her wedding
In my next life I go to law school... and will probably play the Music.
scholarship help???

Re: scholarship help???
So let me get this straight. . . you want a music scholarship but you don't want to study music?!?!? Surely I'm missing something here.

Re: scholarship help???
Uh, yeah, when you find any of those scholarships for musicians who are not studying music, let me know. I could desperately use one.
