is it just the county i live in or do all county musicians travel hundreds of miles to fleadh's to end up playing tunes with the people they play with week in and week out why is that?
Not my experience - first session in Clonmel on the Eigse Sunday was with musicians from Detroit (the Gavins and friends) plus some musicians from Dublin I'd never played with. Admittedly as the week goes on, one meets up with musicians from home (the usual suspects) but we always did make an effort to seek out others as that's what the whole experience is all about.
Friday night of the Fleadh, ended up in a session with Joe Burke and 5-6 of the eigse tutors.
Wed. of the eigse went to the "halfway house" pub in the middle of nowhere, somewhere near clonmel, met the locals and had a great night playing tunes.
