Back in the '70's I recall listening to recording of Tommy Makem's Four Green Fields. The recording started with "Mise Eire" in Irish and concluded with "Mise Eire" in English. I don't recall who did the recording nor can I find anything on the web. Does anyone recall this version, who the artist was, etc?
"The Flying Column" That brings back memories, played before them one night at Queen's and wee eamon went nuts because we played "Roisin Dubh" which was practically their theme tune under the name "Mise Eire".
My sister use to sing this lovely song with our family show band between1979 and 1986 on the London circuit and i still do it with folk-rockers 'Hungry Grass' on the International circuit

Re: Four Green Fields - Mise Eire
I'd fairly sure the band you're looking for is called The Flying Column, a Belfast folk band.

A quaint little group in their time.
