"Tá mé 'mo shuí" guitar accompaniment

"Tá mé 'mo shuí" guitar accompaniment

Hi there,

I wish to learn the song "Tá mé 'mo shuí" on guitar in double drop d tuning.

I normally play more folk music so this is my first attempt at a traditional song.

What key is this tune in? Am I right in saying that the Altan version has 4 phrases - the first and forth in C minor and the second and third in C mixolydian (D minor)?

Well thats as far as I've got so far. I'm playing the melody with the capo on the third. Any suggestions regarding chords and chord shapes? Id like to come up with my version eventually but I'm not sure if this is really a suitable song for playing chords to. What do you think?

Im not really mad about the Clannad version...

Thanks for your help,

Barry

"I normally play more folk music"..........
Believe it or not , this IS folk music. Traditional is another name for it.
Don't know what you've been playing.....
.......don't think because someone's written it and sung it to an acoustic guitar it's folk music. I wish there was another category for that stuff. Oh, yes, singer/songwriters. I don't think it's ALL sh1t, but it ain't folk music.

PS; what plonker put that awful image up on the first video ? Take them out and put them painfully to death for a gross lack of taste. I don't know what the song is about - the famine, the coffin ships, something, but that's no excuse.

Oh, there's a translation on the comments for the Clannad version. Ah. Now I see. That makes the image on the Altan 'reply' video EVEN worse.
Off with the idiot's pieces.....slowly.

That image is by Mark Ryden. I love his work, although that video might not be the best place to display it.

Isn't it strange ?
We all love ITM, but our other tastes can be completely different.
I'm staying with my original comment on the artwork.

I actually meant more planxty, christy moore, kind of stuff, I think in Ireland we use folk to ref to that -

but I guess there's a whole range of interpretations even in Ireland.

Anyway, the song is about a man who is madly in love with a women...

But, back to my first post. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Barry.

This is a translation of the song, not chords
