Sessions in the Greater Boston area

Sessions in the Greater Boston area

I would like to encourage all my fellow trad musicians in the Greater Boston area to check the Sessions list on this site. The list is woefully out-of-date; some sessions have stopped, pages have moved, information is incomplete, etc. I, for one, would love to visit other sessions in the area.

Re: Sessions in the Greater Boston area

Head down to Rhode Island sometime for a change of pace, some good ones down here, and drives aren't bad at all (unless you live north of Boston, that is).

Re: Sessions in the Greater Boston area

Hey I'm staying in Boston on 21-22 May, probably in Milton. Is there
anything near there.

I was pretty shocked by the lack of listings for Boston sessions.

My assumption was there would be about 50 of them.

Re: Sessions in the Greater Boston area

Hup,
Being in Milton, you will be next to Canton, home of the Irish Cultural Center. Other than that, slim pickin's, my friend. Will you have a car, and can you get into Boston/Waltham on Monday or Tuesday?

Re: Sessions in the Greater Boston area

Greg alas I'll be gone by then - I'm only there for Thur and Fri, flying to
Chicago on Saturday. I'm visiting my neglected relatives, but hoping to
get some tunes along the way.

Re: Sessions in the Greater Boston area

I think this has been said on more than one occasion, but remember that we're talking about _Greater_ Boston, which includes not only Boston "proper" but the outlying neighborhoods and cities that fall within this admittedly vague demographic term. So a better course of action is to search for sessions under "Massachusetts" and then see which cities/towns are part of Greater Boston: These would include, for example, Brighton, Cambridge, Brookline, Waltham and Jamaica Plain; even a place like Quincy could qualify. And all of these places are reachable via public transportation.

I realize this could be a laborious process, but that's one of the oh-so-charming quirks of Boston.
