I'm searching for special polkas, interesting on the fiddle, with triplets in the right places, etc... and which fit with the special bowing of polkas. I'm just beginning to learn the correct playing of that dance, and just don't known with which tunes I should start.
Yeah, I'm in agreement with ceolachan- not that Donal Lunny's "Tolka" is bad, per se, but if you're "just beginning to learn the correct playing of that dance" it's probably not where you should start (besides, you probably aren't likely to hear a tune like that in a Kerry Set- all that syncopation would confuse the bejesus out of the dancers. And this IS dance music, no?) Walk before you run, eh? Just posted a lovely "minor" polka from Paudie O'Connor's first CD; it's called "The Hermit From Killarney". Hope it's "interesting" enough, I think you just might
dig it....
