To my dismay i discovered this morning that The JMI is no more after 49 fantastic issues.
www.thejmi.com now comes up as The Journal of Music - an international magazine that covers all genre's in the style of The JMI.
This was the only decent magazine with a subjective view on Trad music.
I believed they skipped a month and are changing its name to The Journal of Music so it has an appeal across the water and beyond. I don't think the content will change considerably though. Maybe I'm wrong.
I'm glad to report that the JMI is continuing, but in a different form. We have changed the name to The Journal of Music. We will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of Irish musical life, including traditional music, but have increased our pages to include writing on matters abroad also. It's quite a natural development for the magazine. We skipped the month of March because every year our production schedule clashes with Christmas and we decided to take this opportunity to address that. The first issue of The Journal of Music will be available from the first week of April. The entire archive of the JMI is available on The Journal of Music website. http://www.journalofmusic.com
