CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

Labhrais Ó Murchu is about to be interegated by Olivia Mitchel FG on Pat Kenny RTÉ Radio 1 in a few minutes. It's about the lack of transparency in funding. There is a lot of activity in press regarding CCÉ. Is the country finally wising up? You can hear it again on the RTÉ archive I believe.

Re: CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

Hilarious stuff, despite all the accusations, all the information we know, and all the facts he still peddles the same stuff about accounts being available to everyone. Certainly not true.

He tries to potray himself and the organisation as the innocent bunch of people who only want to play irish music. He talks about Olivia trying to politicise CCE, but he himself has done this plenty of times as a senator. Only when people start looking at the organisation does it suit him to bandy about this argument.

There is also a fishy sounding email from the Financial Regulatory office telling him not to let information about the accounts get out, which he himself tells us of. Does he not realise that this heavily involves him and he could be implicating himself?

He also has the audacity to peddle more crap about Clasac and accuses email that was read out about it as being sent by someone who is not anything to do with CCE and wouldnt know much about the situation. Trying to undermine the situation totally.

He says the decision to dissolve CCE was a unanimous one made by the ard-comhairle, but of course he would get this decision when Clontarf had no opportunity to present their case to the Ard -Comhairle. They only heard one side of the story.

He complains yet again about this 'vendetta' against him. He is a whinger. He cannot see that the head of an organisation and a state senator is liable to be open to criticism and when he is subjected to it he cries fowl and says it is a vendetta against himself and CCE. Dont be such a baby. The reason he recieves so much criticism is because of his position and the way he has acted.

Re: CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

lame interview and debate - she didn't go for the jugular - a glossy 2 page publication is not the audited accounts - she didn't have the details of Clontarf's treatment - people should keep the momentum going on this issue. Clarsach is empty and closed anytime I pass it yet he sadi it was a hive of activity.

He doesn't come off well at all.

The tax issue is mentioned (and dodgy goings on implied in a nudge nudge wink wink say no more way) as the main reason for dissolving Cluan Tairbh. Hadn't they denied that earlier?

I'm looking forward to giving it a listen when I get home. It will be interesting to see how these old school institutions play out in what is shaping up to be a new dawn for the state. One senses a general feeling that the wheels may be finally falling off this paricular bandwagon.

I thought that Olivia Mitchell hadn´t really prepared herself well enough for a confrontation with an old-style slippery politician like Larry.
He interrupted her, spoke while she was speaking, generally tried to bulldoze her and had the gall to ask for an apology !
He seemed to be more than a match for Pat Kenny, too, who let him have the last word.
This is a clear case for good investigative journalism and tenacious parliamentarians.

Any views out there from other than the clontarf branch?

I'd certaintly be interested how you get a VAT refund in 8 days from Revenue for a reported three quarters of a million euro. It's a brave member of the Seanad that makes such a statement outside of parliamentery privellege unless he is sure of the facts.

Re: CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

Southpaw you're right, 8 days is good . Also apparently Revenue approved of the manner in which a rebate was RETURNED. Who returns rebates? You only return a rebate when the claim is invalid and to submit an invalid claim carries penalties big penalties.
This whole issue seems very strange . It was brought up before on the wireless, by a member or Dissolved Clontarf (Joe Duffy Show March). The man in question claimed not to be a tax expert though he did work for Revenue and he also seemed to think that there were no problems with HAVING TO return a TAX Rebate. Curiouser and curiouser

Re: CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

that statement is pretty unfounded, it definately was not 8 days. CCE approved Clontarf getting the VAT refund and then castigated them for doing so, basically a form of entrapment to create a situation and then use it as an excuse for dissolution. CCE then told them to return the refund to CCE despite Revenue saying this would be ILLEGAL. CCE threatened Clontarf with dissolution if they did not the return the refund to them while Revenue told them that if they didnt return it to Revenue then members of the branch would find themselves under investigation. So they returned it to Revenue and CCE dissolved them for doing so.

Thats the story as I've heard it. Cannot see them getting a refund in 8 days, but maybe this was the reason why Revenue wanted it returned. Sounds to me like there was a mix up somewhere along the line.

Re: CCÉ interview on Pat Kenny NOW! Labhrais V's Olivia

8 days is what the man said.
CCE didnt approve Clontarf getting a Rebate . The Revenue did and they also got it back. Regardless of how the money should have been repaid the facts of the matter are that the claim itself must have been was spurious, for it to have had to be returned. Entrapment and other conspiracy theories wont wash, Expert advice was allegedly sought and received to make that claim Now experts can only operate with the information given so it begs the questions what were they told , by whom and more particularily what were they not told that caused the claim to suddenly invalidate itself. The uncomfortable fact remains that person/s in Clontarf made and received a VAT claim they had no entitlement and therefore should be investigated. Giving back the money didn't undo the making of an invalid claim vand in this country that is an offence Mix up no Own up
