Two great Scottish musicians graced the Madass Folk Club (Muddy Farmer hotel) in Brisbane last night by chance and treated us to a feast of Scottish tunes from many regions and islands. It was the type of impromtu visit/ gig that was arranged at the last minute due to a change in their travel itinery. The Madass is becoming more well known for these little surprise visits by overseas acts and its great as I only live down the hill from the establishment.
The guys are both virtuosos in my view and the combination of fiddle and piano accordion was dynamite. Inspirational left hand comping from Sandy while flying through the tunes on the keyboard side. A backing style that would be worth studying
in detail and perhaps adapted to other instruments. ( just a thought). The guys are going to Tasmania today and other places, then doing a couple of festivals in the land of the long
white cloud. Catch them if you can. Thanks to Alison, Rose,
Sailor John and Alex for organising such a treat for us rednecks here in Brissie.

No but he set alight to the accordion trying to plug the Jimi Shandrix Experience CD.
