Hello, my name is Colm, I am a Whistle player from Dublin. I was just wondering if anybody would be able to recommend to me the name of a really nice Whistle Player/Maker. Its something that I would really like to get. It would be great if someone could help me out on this matter. Your help would be greatly appriciated and might be able to return the favour somehow.
Thanks for that reply, I have just checked out the site for the whistles. The script on the whistles makes them sound like a good wihistle to me. Nice one, one step closer to gettin meself a new whistle. Fair play, Thanks again.
I bought several whistles from Erle Bartlett, an Australian whistle-maker. One of my better investments! Highly recommended Syn Whistles and Black Diamond whistles. I like the way they the Syns can be interchanged with different bodies and the playing is sweet and clear. These are the only Syns I don't mind admitting to http://www.gaeliccrossings.com/store/index.php/cat_14
Do you have a price range? Like Greg said, Sindt is a great maker for a great price. I also like Burke, he is a great maker. http://www.burkewhistles.com/ If you want wood, I like Busman, very exotic and taught by Schultz. http://busmanwhistles.com/
Amazing what can be done these days with all sorts of materials. I play it not just because, I've got several to choose from but I always go back to this.
This is the website of Ryan J MacNeil of the Cape Breton band Beolach. He makes a large range of whistles. Had the opportunity to try a couple of the low whistles out in Armagh at the piping festival and they were lovely. I am sure his high whistles will be too.

Here is a link to info about John Sindt, who makes wonderful whistles in Nyack, NY, the next town over from where I grew up.

For a wooden whistle, look no further than a Fred Rose : http://www.fredrose.co.uk

These are all great suggestions. I would also add Chris Abell to the list of wooden whistle makers. His are outstanding.

Re: Good Whistle Maker's
These are all great suggestions, but I think the best whistle to be made, so far, is Mitch Smith's Vambrace.
