Nothing In particular...

Nothing In particular...

Yeah, that's right, no actual topic. Just a General Chat. Rumours of my demise being exaggerated, I thought I'd rejoin the fold with a modest Hello.

I hope this is permitted within the Grand Scheme of Things on this website, and does not fall outside of Jeremy's Rigidly Defined Areas of Doubt and Uncertainty.

Feel free to contradict "Hello" as a greeting, or that it's actually me who is writing this.

Anything you want to unload, do it here. Hook up? Here.

I now the aftermath of Montana is on a seperate thread, but ... bitch about someone? Yep. Right here.

Any other moans, groans, gripes, sh!tes? Mmm-Hmm. You got it. You know where poor old uncle Dan hangs out.

Re: Nothing In particular...

Just wondering here if anyones going to the All Ireland fleadh.
I called into Clonmel at the weekend and was surprised to find no telltale signs of an upcoming festival. In fact there were no signs at all. I would have expected at least a banner across the main street loudly welcoming all. I enquired if a website existed to promote the event and was directed to www.clonmelfleadh.com
The site is also devoid of info. Are Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann a little short on their PR skills perhaps. Or do they simply let the Music speak for itself ? I think some promotion would improve the event.
See you all at the Fleadh

Re: Nothing In particular...

Danny,
I thought you'd made it outa here, but it seems you've had a relapse. They have been overdoing the medication since you've been away and you can see the effects. It seems they have reincarnated James Joyce and have been feeding him on acid. For god's sake run and don't look back!

Re: Nothing In particular...

That's what happens when you become institutionalised, Chris.

Re: Nothing In particular...

Well, if we're opening this thread up to anything...

I was at a session last weekend, and after finishing a set of jigs that not too many others joined in on, a member of the session asked me if I had any classical training on the violin. I said "no, I actually haven't" and he said, "Yeah, you can tell. I've never seen form like yours in my life."
Now, I'm not one to keep my mouth shut in many situations, and sometimes come off as a bit of a bitch, but I was so stunned by this statement that I was speechless. Of course, I thought of LOTS of great comebacks on the way home, a bit too late of course.
I know this sort of thing happens, that people just don't know when to keep their mouths shut, but I thought I'd share. By the way, my form is the worst that you've ever seen, but the results are quite nice, if I do say so myself.
There, I feel a bit better now.

Re: Nothing In particular...

Helen, goin well, as I hope you are....surprised I was able to get out tunes on Sunday night after a more than 2 week lay-off...must make an effort to get to the fleadh or willie week next year... with the arrival of wee Fergus last October, all solo heading off to festivals with a rucksack and tent has been curtailed.

We'll need to find an excuse to get the London Sessioneers together again before long...what's become of that guy McDonnell these days? Wouldn't have struck me as yer typical hermit...

Was listening to Evylin Glennie speaking on the radio the other day... said she treats even her practice like a performance... gives it her all every time...maybe that's the secret

No more idle meandrings.

Message ends.

Danny.

Re: Nothing In particular...

Hey Danny,

Me and ma pals are making plans for the cambridge folk festival next year. Save your cash for that!

Re: Nothing In particular...

Whaaaat?

Go to the Fleadh instead, Craig. Cambridge has become just a folkie-oriented kind of Glastonbury, by accounts I've heard.

Fleadh, defo. Ask others here about the Clancy Week. I've never been, but heard it's even better than the F.C.n.h-E.

Danny.

Re: Nothing In particular...

Okay so we are aloud to have a moan and groan, great!!!!
All I want to be is a musician, I love the sound, feel and look of music and believe that in myself is a fantastic musician just waiting to get out. Only prob is that I can't read music properly which is preventing me from learning the masses of tunes that I have on my list, and I am too scared to play at a session as I am only recently in the UK and havent met anybody yet that I can practice tunes and bounce new ideas off. HELPPPP!!!!!
