Generally at this time of the year, someone starts a thread where we can share good wishes with each other, and even though they are not strictly music related, they seem to avoid deletion. So let me start and wish all of you a happy holiday season, and special thanks to Jeremy for giving us a venue to share these wishes. Whether you are a beginner, or an accomplished player, or like me, neither a beginner nor accomplished, we all share the common joy of music which brightens our lives. May you find the new year full of new joys and new possibilities. Whether you worship the birth of your savior, like me, or celebrate the lengthening of the days, or the turning of the year, lamps that refuse to stop burning, or just the company of your fellow man, I wish you joy and peace and happiness!
Best wishes to all for another year of great music with friends. Thank you Jeremy. Thanks to everyone for providing so much insight, information and craic. Merry Christmas.
Hey Fish: Well Said!
Thanks to all of you for sharing your wisdom, insights, and perhaps especially, humor. And for sometimes pointing out to me the errors of my ways. ...now if I can just get to work on a melody instrument and finally escape the tyranny of the standard-tuned guitar...
...may ALL your days be merry and bright...
Peace,
Tom
Wishing you all a happy holiday or as we say call it in Ireland..Christmas. Because Christmas it is....Thanks for all the banter over the year and for the 'Well I never knew that' type of information. Bless you all.
Thank you Mr. Brown, and to you and everyone else at The Session.org, whether ye be of good will or not: happy holidays, and best wishes for the new year.
"Dashing thru the bush
in a rusty holden ute
kicking up the dust
eski in the boot
kelpie by my side
singing christmas songs
it's christmas time and i am in
my singlet, shorts and thongs...
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
christmas in australia on a scorching summer day, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells
ingle bells, jingle bells
christmas time is beaut oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty holden ute"
Or words to those effects. Merry Christmas to you all.
I give credit to Ptarmigan for directing me to the
Trans-Siberian recording on the Slovenian website
of the multi-faceted Mad Russian Christmas recording.
I have a new Christmas favorite every year.
Thanks for adding to the mix.
Here is my top favorite to compare with the Mad Russians.
I think this is a perfect combination of music and images to reflect what I am thinking about today.
Have a listen and tell what you think.
It's practically on the opposite end of the spectrum,
but a universal topic should have many ways to express
truth, like a good jig or reel.

Kala Hristouyenna!
That's modern Greek.
The Classical Greeks didn't have a word for Christmas.
Don't know why.
Avaguddun.
That's English.
