Identify two jigs

It's amazing how I try to find tunes using the searcher on this site over and over again with no success...

Re: Identify two jigs

The first jig is the last and second parts of the Battering Ram, I'm not sure about the second one.

Re: Identify two jigs

Second one is the Lonesome/Maguire's, etc:

Re: Identify two jigs

Pere, this is exactly why I put up my tune search site. The text searching on thesession is too literal. It is looking for text "word" matches, and doesn't allow for any variation. My search site does some fuzzy matching, and it correctly identifies both tunes. It works best if you put in 4-8 bars (from anywhere in the tune).

Hope it helps you in the future... :-)

Re: Identify two jigs

Ah thanks a lot Rev. I was sure I had read about a tune searcher made by a thesession member but I didn't know the address. I'll always use it now.

Re: Identify two jigs

If you forget the address (but can remember who made it), it's linked in my profile page too... Hope it's of some help!

Re: Identify two jigs

I just gave it a bookmark.
Pete, my friend really got a kick out of your tee shirts.
Maybe I'll buy her one.
She also wants to learn janesjigs from the Maggie's Favourite mp3. I'll give it another listen today & try to suss it out.
Cheers

Re: Identify two jigs

Thanks Rev. I can't wait to try your search engine. I've never had much luck with the search feature here, but I sometimes run the same search on google for tunes on this site.

Here's one that I often use. Not as many listings as the session, but it works. I imagine most people here are already familiar with it.

Re: Identify two jigs

Hey Random_notes, glad the shirts are going across well :-)

The Jane's Jig's set is fun. The tunes are
Boys of Lough Gowna http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/3377
Letting the Ranch go Fallow (by Will CPT) http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/7159 and
Spórt http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/870

Re: Identify two jigs

You've ruined me Pete! My friend keeps asking, "can't you just take the recording & push some magic button & have the sheet music shoot out?" To which I always say,
"There is no magic button - no shortcuts. You listen to the tune & suss it out!""Magic BUTTON?!"
She'll get a good round laugh on this one .
Thank you, you are generous.
One by Will, eh?
We'll be playing them. Thanks Will

Re: Identify two jigs

Random_notes, you gave me an idea for another shirt: http://www.cafepress.com/ITMGoodies/6325259

:-D

Glad you folks like the search engine! Don't forget to read the instructions, because it does some more advanced things that might not be intuitive, like transposition searches, etc.
