I was wondering if anybody has ever seen one of those clamp things you can use at a session. It fastens onto te edge of a table, and if you have more than one stringed instrument with you, you can hang the one you aren't using on it. Much more secure than laying your baby on the table, or endlessly fiddling with cases, etc. I met a Brit once who had one. I am wondering what they are called and where I can get one.
I might possibly be persuaded to use the Pub Prop, but I would never, ever hang my guitar from a table with something like that John Pearse model. On second thought, I wouldn't even use the Pub Prop. I'd be afraid somebody would bump into it or kick it. I'm getting nervous just thinking about it!
The pub prop is great - and comes with attachments to allow you to hang a mandolin or fiddle. It even has a little bit on it to hang a bow off. There are some sessions (in Glasgow) I wouldn't use it in though as they can be too crazy. There I tend to carry the guitar to the bar and cross my legs for 3 hours!
I'd just like to say that I use my Pubprop religiously, having broken a 'zouk neck ( ok, it was only a Greek one ) before I had it, watching the instrument slide slowly sideways along the edge of a table and just out of hands reach......
....its great advantage is that it sits neatly in the gigbag pocket till you need it. I did wear out the pad on the end of the screw, that sits against the underside of the table, and replaced it with a rubber bung from a school laboratory, drilling out a short hole in the bung for the screw, but this only reflects the amount of use I give it.
I appreciate your advice given to Chris and co. If you need spare spinners for your Pub Prop (in case you run out of corks!) you can email me at www.stones-music.com for any spare parts - usually f.o.c for the odd one, Mark

String Swing also makes some, although, they're meant for a mic stand, not a table.
