Have you been laid off in the current economic climate?
Do you play a session instrument??
Do you find yourself with more time on your hands to practise your music???
Would you like to meet other people in the same situation as you are????
Why not start up a recession session with your fellow musicians. Its cheap, entertaining and now you can spend the time you always wanted to make music!!!!!
Get into orbit, Spudnik.
I wish I found it so funny.
I'm fighting redundancy just now. There's a *vague* chance I might actually even win as I have good union representation, and the employer doesn't seem to have taken into account such things as redundancy payout and more importantly actuarial strain of my pension obligation. I'm angling for redeployment, and if HR has any sense they should go along with that. However, pride comes before a fall so maybe I ought not speak too soon.
The habitually limp-wristed and toothless Guardian carried an article on just this recently and they dead-on on this one. They reported redundancy, for people who had been in previously steady responsible jobs, can endow feelings akin to bereavement, and they are right. It's very strange how it works. When I worked as a carpenter I couldn't give a shining sh!te if I got sacked any day of the week. Now I'm all over the place. Gone too soft maybe, in this lower/middle management penpusher status.
Anyway, I'm sure recession sessions will start springing up all over the place. They used to have Wednesday aftenoon sessions in a pub in Dublin - the name escapes me now - could be Hughs'es - near Huston station. BTW they are now starting to call it "The 2nd Great Depression"...like the *2nd* World War ...pretty scary eh? Since the 2nd one was worse than the first?oh and not forgetting that the roots of the actual WW2 can be traced back to 1929 .......Just thought I'd cheer you all up at the launch of the so called Festive Season.....
Some of us dear, delicate souls perused the archives before daring to sign up. Either that or we may have been reading on and off for many a year. And neither initial, I'm afraid, assuming you're referring to my forename?
Good to see you back, Mr H. The process of the sifting through of the dross, flotsam and jetsam of sarcasm, poor wit and outright hostility, bad speling and evan worst grammer becomes all worthwhile when suddenly a friend reappears, like a lotus amidst the detritus....
It is quite serious, but we must make the most out of our given situation, got laid off last friday, looking foreward to some time to do stuff i want to do.
Does anyone know of any weekday sessions in dublin?
I got laid off, sorry, sacked, six years ago. I wouldn't mind earning more money than I do currently, but it completely revitalised my music-making, and my social life, and that of 'Er Indoors too. There are more important things than making lots of money, although making enough money is always nice.
but this so called recession session-crunch hasn't affected our neck of S E London as Frank has started one up two months ago at The Gypsy Hill Tavern SE19 on a Sunday from 5pm and it's grand

Re: The Recession Session
Actually, "vegetable vigilante" is very good. But I think this is finally a well-behaved persona. After all, it's been posting tunes...

Re: The Recession Session
Hang on.... I'm confused.... bad spelling? bad grammar? are you referring to me, or the OP?
Just so you know, I have no animosity towards you. Seriously.

No, that's not me either. Sorry, I think I misconstrued your last.

If we had a Pomme de Terre famine that would mean real hard times were back.
