Another tune to identify

Another tune to identify

This tune popped into a friend's head the other day so this might be in the wrong key or otherwise innacurate, and I have no idea how the B part goes, but I'm really hoping someone here knows what tune it is. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Another tune to identify

Don't know whether this helps, but your abc submission is reminiscent of a tune called "Morning Glory".

If this happens to be the one that you want, it's normally in G-Major.

Rats. Thanks much, Mix O'Lydian, but I don't think that's the one.

Re: Another tune to identify

I'm sure one of our English tune aficionados plays something very similar to this; I'll inquire out our session later this evening (memory permitting!).

...and possibly even AT our session!

Re: Another tune to identify

I don't wish to be cruel but it sounds like something we used to hear on 'Watch with Mother' on the TV

Re: Another tune to identify

This tune predates that programme, Free Reed.

Perhaps you mean: "Listen with Mother"...

... "Are you sittting comfortably...."

Re: Another tune to identify

As comfortable as I can Mix, but the rug keeps slipping from my lap and my cocoa is cold.
Could indeed have been 'Listen with Mother' on radio as opposed to 'Watch with Mother' which was on TV.
"We know a little tune, shall we play it Billy......."

Re: Another tune to identify

Sorry Maeve, no joy tonight with the naming the tune.
I did receive the comment that it was a jolly nice tune, and reminiscent of the type of English tunes played at the Sidmouth Folk Festival; not much help, I'm afraid. :-(

Re: Another tune to identify

I'm afraid 'Watch with Mother' was way before my time (according to wikipedia), Free Reed, but at least the tune is no Winster Gallop.

Thanks for the asking, Rick, even though it didn't pan out. Perhaps the name and the B part will remain a mystery.
