O.K., I know he wasn't Trad, but an original non-the-less.
A moment of silence ,if you will, for Mitch Mitchell
Have Drum...Will be Momentarily Silent....
Now all of the Experience are dead.
Not quite Trad indeed but
listen to the nearly Scottish march type jam section during the long Voodoo Chile on Electric Ladyland!
from the web: 'John "Mitch" Mitchell (9 July 1947 – 12 November 2008) was an English drummer, most famous for his membership in The Jimi Hendrix Experience'.
I have a friend who was the biggest fan of Jimi Hendrix. Once, when they were touring, he bought a couple of tickets. He planned on asking a girl with whom he was infatuated. She said, "No." He never went.
He was a fantastic musician. The people up above who have sneered really need to get to grips with what music is. I don't give a toss if this is an allegedly trad site. Mitch was brilliant.
RIP Mitch

Re: RIP Mitch
his band member Noel Redding in the Experience did run the busking festival in Clonakilty in county Cork. Nearly a folkie connection.

Re: RIP Mitch
i remember reading an interview with Hendrix where he said something like: "some of that irish music is funky"
there would have been plenty of it about in 60s London.

Re: RIP Mitch
Condolences to the Mitchell family, all of Mitch's friends...and fans of the Jimi Hendrix Experience everywhere. This is immensely sad news.

Re: RIP Mitch
Jimi's stepsister is quoted in the press as saying of Mitch, "His role in shaping the sound of the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot be underestimated."
Oh, well. I think I know what she means.
RIP.
