O'Malleys on Prospect Hil, (now called M.T. Pockets) was the premier sunday morning session. Tommy Nolan from The Bohermore, an older ace fiddler was the mainstay. There could be a dozen or more musicians packed into what was really a small pub. This made for a great atmosphere. Among the regulars were Pete Galligan (rip) Gerry Carthy, Micky Finn (rip). I particularly remember one morning Gerry Carthy, in great form, playing the "Fermoy Lasses" to perfection while a smiling Eric Clapton, pint of guinness in hand looked on appreciatevely. Happy days. D - I was at the closing party/session of O'Malley's, in '97 I think. It was a great session, including Sharon Shannon, Harry Bradley, and a few songs from ... I can't remember his name at the minute... country singer guy who loves Galway... Anyway, it was a great party. And a great pub. Is the Sunday session in the Crane still going? That must be about 25 years now...
Chrishty, you might mean Steve Earle who did live in galway. Also John Prine is known to be a regular visitor. Yes, the Crane still going strong. Galway was alive in these days, sessions and parties almost non stop. Unfortunately it was not always good news for people who had problems controlling their alcohol, with a few casualties on the way.
D - It was John Prine. Things in the mid 90s were not too different. Lots of great sessions and parties. And some people who had the same trouble... no casualties that I no of.

MT Pockets, very good.
diarmuid, I once got a similar lack of response when I posted about an old session, The Green Man, Harlesden, London, from way back:

Yes the Sunday session in the Crane is still going. I think it's 27 or 28 years now.
