Plain of jars meets the Porthole of the Kelp

Plain of jars meets the Porthole of the Kelp

On my cd players the production sounds fairly shite, I know Brian and Sean, but I left the London scene behind a long time ago. Sentiment steered to me to buy both cd's now I wish I'd opted for Conal O Grada's or Maeve Donnolly's.
Brian's playing is as outstanding as always but on both Paddy Gallaghers guitar sounds ropey as all hell. Bit of a front to ask 20 blips for cd's that at best can only be skipped through once then consigned to the shelf

Deafman - If you know Mr C., you'll know the kind of character he is. Exceptional musician though he is, I can't imagine him having much patience for multiple takes, rehearsals and discussing chords beforehand.

Ragaman I completely agree about Sean's playing it's one of the reasons I bought the cd the other is to hear him again and I hoped for long hours of listening & remembering nights in the Blackhorse, Powers, Clancys etc. But the backing is so off putting on both cd's as to render them unlistenable. I'm not talking about the quality of Paddy, Sean or Brian's playing just the production or lack of it is very irritating.

Still I legged it to Custy's today and got Maeve Donnelly's Flame on the Banks - tis lovely stuff indeed
