Sheet Music

Sheet Music

I've been trying to print out the sheet music in my tune book but all that comes out is the title of the tune - the staff and notes just aren't there. Can anyone help?

Re: Sheet Music

dear Josie, I have sometimes had that problem with some downloaded music. I saved it as a word file & fount that it printed ok.
One can check the printability of a file by clicking on " print preview " There is / are a program/s which will actuialy play the " abc " music off this site, save it as a midi file. one can change the speed & key to suit it costs $10 " ABC mus "
there is another one that transfers stand. staff to sound
One " copies " from the file, opens the " ABC " or ??? & then "

Re: Sheet Music

I selected a tune from the Session archives and clicked on print preview. I got four pages of stuff-all the information about the tune. If I just want the tune I can right click while the arrow is on the sheet music and then select "print picture" and it will print the music without the title. A better way for me is to right click on the music and then select "save picture". Then I save it in "my pictures". When I print it from there it can be enlarged to make it easier to see.

Re: Sheet Music

Thanks for the tips. I'm off on holidays today for two weeks. I'll try them out when I get back.

Re: Sheet Music

when I want a more readable copy than prints from my tunebook, I found best to download the abc, copy it, (don't let Word close) go to Concertina .net to their *tune-o-tron* and convert to music notation. Then it prints out, very nice and clear, only a little smaller than in "normal-size" music.

Re: Sheet Music

You could also try the ABC2Win program for downloading the ABC's from your tune book. They print out beautifully and the program is very useful for converting ABC files from other sources.
It only costs about 20 dollars and there is a trial version available.

Re: Sheet Music

I have found that a combination of ABCmus and ABC2win gives a good range of options for dealing with tunes. Neither does songs very well, but for $30.00 dollars you get excellent review, playback and library functions (search, etc) with ABCmus and excellent sheet music printout options with ABC2win.

Re: Sheet Music

I use ABCMus for playback, review, writing, etc, and abcm2ps in conjunction with Ghostscript for printout.

Re: Sheet Music

I'm back from holidays and I tried some of the suggestions on how to print out the sheet music from my tune book. The one that I thought worked best was the suggestion from "fiddlefingers" to use the Tune-O-Tron at www.concertina.net. I printed out the tune in PDF format and it printed beautifully - as good as any sheet music. The concertina.net site also looks interesting. I must look around it when I get time.

Finally, thanks to all for the suggestions.

Regards,
Josie
