Slow tunes in London

Slow tunes in London

Never saw so many zimmer frames at a session before. Crikey! What is with all the tantrums from old gezers (with seriously bad hair pieces). Get over yourself. F# minor all the way baby! I thought one of these guys was going to explode.

Don't go to a session and be slagging people off at their regular session. If you can't keep up with the pace then get a vodka red bull into yer!

By the way - if all you want is some food (we all saw you steal the chicken and stuff it in your box) I can give you a number for meals on wheels.

Happy Harpist all they way!

I hear Flook are looking for a fiddler!

Re: Slow tunes in London

Too true Poxie -that is the second session where I have seen the same guy living it large. Coming into a session and complaining like a baby is just bad form. Some people can be so plastic

Re: Slow tunes in London

I know - there's 2 KFCs in Slough .... All the chicken you can eat ... and they even give you a PLASTIC fork !!!

Re: Slow tunes in London

I wonder who you guys could be talking about? Hmmm - i am racking my brain but cant figure it out. And you say he/she slagged your session and the musicians and then came back? Nope - still haven't got it :-|

Re: Slow tunes in London

And just a word of warning...I know you guys thought it was bad when I accidently ripped the sleeves off Gerry's jacket at the Cobden...but if I ever see that rude (chicken stealing) man slag off my mates at a session I'll rip his bloddy arms off.

What is with the attitude. We go out for a tune and a laugh. It is just not fun when your choking out the next tune....or was that a chicken bone...

Re: Slow tunes in London

I'm starting to get a bit peckish ....

No f%$king wonder, there was no food left !!!

It's a shame he can't play the tunes as fast as he suckles those chicken wings ....

Anyone know any Veggie sessions out there .... Carrot sticks and homous ?:

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by PoxieBoxie

Re: Slow tunes in London

Are you talking about vegetarian food or slow tunes repeated....either way there was a load of vegetables involved. bb....I know you would have a heart attack to see that many comb-overs in the same pub!

Tom...the greatest publican in the world. Next time though, can you send those gezers out on the street for a bit of Slough omlete.

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by legs

And by the way Tadosorearse, you'll be sorted for next week ... half-term ... all the 10 year olds will be chasing after ya Boss ! You know what they say, plenty more eggs in Slough ! Try the pulling shirt next time ...

Re: Slow tunes in London

So Poxie ... which came first, the chicken or the egg? .. Coz I know what Flamin WENT first !!!

Re: Slow tunes in London

Legs - it is a shame chicken-man was not on the Picci line last night from Waxy's. Not a plastic paddy in sight. Steve made 2 pence. If that is not the pure drop than I don't know what is....

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by PoxieBoxie

Re: Slow tunes in London

Flamin Nora !!! Don't be telling him we were playing on the tube ... People his age have a free pass, there'll be no gettin a seat if he finds out there's tunes on the train ....

Wait ....

Send him on the Circle line ..... That slow enough for ya :)

Re: Slow tunes in London

Hey I heard the Victoria line is off on the weekends...lets all play tunes in Brixton.

And to the total eejit who was telling Sam to look after his health...wake up man it is a session! Big words about not smoking when he was shovelling the chicken in! Think of the cholestrol. Moment on the lips....get that whistle out of there....

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by legs

Re: Slow tunes in London

There were more wings in that session than there were on the plate by the time we played the Galway Rambler again ....

.... and again

Re: Slow tunes in London

Oops sorry I meant to type Poxie before but my fingers were moving so fast - unlike some of the tunes....

BTW- I was totally irritated when I saw someone making a stirring action when you were cranking out some fierce tunage there tonight....as if you were playing fast....my holyoakes omnibus...but now I realise that he was trying to give Tom sign language to crank up a Slough omlete to go with all the wings...

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by legs

Re: Slow tunes in London

you do realise that no-one has any idea what you guys are on about don't you? If I had received the texts I'd have no idea what was going on ;)

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by bb

Re: Slow tunes in London

Are you serious? did he really make a cranking movement with his arms to imply you guys were playing too fast?! What a twit! - Hey Mr M - you know who you are, why dont you find yourself a new session and leave all these lovely - and may I add mighty, mighty players alone. They are way out of your league.

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by bb

Re: Slow tunes in London

Re: Slow tunes in London

No idea what this was all about but I think I would like to have been a fly on the wall at that session except that I might have been eaten by the starving PoxieBoxie.

Re: Slow tunes in London

Its all about Mr Morri turning up to the slough and being rude again...you know - the one having a go at the london musicians the other week.

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by bb

Re: Slow tunes in London

Yeah, don't know who he is, bb, but he only turned up here to slag off musicians. Hasn't done anything else on the site. Weird behaviour. :-/

Re: Slow tunes in London

Very strange. I mean really? How bored does one have to be do think that is a fun thing?

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by bb

Re: Slow tunes in London

bb..totally agree. But to be truthful it did seem like anytime we were having a laugh we were given the death stare....even though it was bloody hard to have the time for a laugh cause the sets were rolling out faster than a chicken dinner with redbull....

Poxie have had anything to eat yet? hope you are not making up for yer missed chicken dinner over brekkie?? Slow down would u...

Re: Slow tunes in London

This doesn't sound like a slow session in London at all - it sounds very much like Slough. All the wide-boys who come up from the smoke should realise how rude it is not to stop playing and let the pensioners at the chicken - Christ knows they didn't die in two World Wars to be treated in such a shoddy manner! Mr. Boxie unfortunately sums up the prevailing ethos when these drug-sniffing hoodies come in happy-slapping and shanking the old guys - "F# minor all the way baby!"
F# minor indeed! If God had meant us to play in such a dreadful key he'd have given us a smidgen of musical ability!

Sounds like I missed another good one ..... sigh!

Re: Slow tunes in London

Speaking as an older person, if I behave like a jerk I expect to have to answer for it. It's patronising to treat us differently. And I'll try it in London or anywhere else I feel like. The guy they're talking about has form for going into other people's sessions and slagging them off, in person and online. As they say, he can always start his own.

Re: Slow tunes in London

All things said & done there were great tunes had from one side of the house anyway!!
No-one drank Tom's pink shots, feel asleep on the table or got pushed around in a shopping trolley though!

Re: Slow tunes in London

Well said there Orson. There was a similar situation with the session in the Ben Nevis in Glasgow when some folk didn't like the full on sessions there and slagged it mercilessly online. What is it with some people who think the whole world should play music to their taste otherwise they're doing it wrong? A session is and should be what the regulars want it to be.

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by bogman

Re: Slow tunes in London

Hey Ottery - not feeling the love with the hoodies. Just because someone wants to trun up looking like a November wasp, or buzz lightyear, or watever......lets stop the tunage police and fashion police goin to sessions....and let me just say that while the hoodie is on the bingo wings are safely covered up!

Re: Slow tunes in London

Is this a private conversation or can anyone join in??

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by Free Reed

Re: Slow tunes in London

I thought Buffalo Wings, not Bingo Wings, were the root of the problem(?)
I may be sagging a bit but I'm old enough that anyone who didn't know better might mistakenly believe that I could have kept up with you lot once upon a time ....

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by Ottery

Re: Slow tunes in London

Whenever I see the term "Buffalo Wings", I want to ask how can the buffalo fly without any wings?

Speaking of bad comb-overs and badly-fitting hairpieces.....many years ago I remember watching a certain talk show when Dr. Joyce Brothers was one of the guests (the other two guests were Don Rickles and the late Leo Durocher). Since the other two guests were bald-headed men, the host of the show asked Dr. Brothers whether or not women were attracted to men who were bald. Dr. Brothers replied that women were more attracted to men who didn't try to be vain and hide their baldness with bad comb-overs and/or badly-fitting hairpieces. Durocher, who made no effort to hide his baldness, liked that answer. However, Rickles, who tried to cover his baldness with a comb-over, didn't like that answer.

And, last but not least, in the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg......according to standard theories of evolution, reptiles appeared on this planet first before mammals such as chickens and reptiles lay eggs.

Re: Slow tunes in London

the session last night was mighty regardless of the rudness and sheer boldness of one musician...i mean really...why make the effort to treck down and be obviously rude!....theres no need...he maybe as some have said a 'pensioner' or 'comb over'....but his behaviour that he has illustrated on this website and last night is something i expect from a 3 year old!....

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by O'Grady

Re: Slow tunes in London

So, this is all about one session, not even in London, and some senior person who is old enough to know better but acted like pain in the hole because tunes were played too fast or in wierd keys and he et more chicken than he should have.

Why the fvck am I reading this or even worse why the fvck am I posting onto this pile of sh!te?

Re: Slow tunes in London

Maybe it's because it's fun(ny), Danny, like the playing of the lads that started this thread!
Look at some of the alternatives:
'Hobbyists vs Trad Musicians'
'For Sale: Michael Burke Low D whistle'
'Where Do Mandolins Fit In?'
And the possibly terminal:
'Speeding up MIDI on Concertina.net'

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by Ottery

Re: Slow tunes in London

Yeah Mark, but all that means is those threads are even worse piles of sh!te, hence my less than regular attendance here these days.

Re: Slow tunes in London

OK lads, end of the discussion - we just wanded to make a point - and starting to get a bit nasty, Nobody's ageist ... grew up playing with the old boyos in Ireland and have great respect for anybody who plays. Just the bitchiness last night that fecked us all off... right Legs?

Re: Slow tunes in London

with ya on that one poxieBoxie!!!..:)

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by O'Grady

Re: Slow tunes in London

Yeah, ok, the guy was obviously an ar$ehole, but you could still easily have made your point without making reference to:

zimmer frames
tantrums from old gezers
meals on wheels

Don't you see why that annoyed people here?

# Posted on October 21st 2008 by Rudall the time

Re: Slow tunes in London

Hey Poxie sitting beside me and we both think that the pink shots taste better than the green ones....

promise not to be ageist...actually not that we ever were. Love and respect for people(any age) with the good tune karma....sorry if you took offense...we thought it was soooo funny at 4am this morning...was NOT funny when we had to get up for work at 6am! apparently O'Grady is to blame says Poxie. c u next week for winner winner chicken dinner!

Re: Slow tunes in London

Now I know all about Pegasus, but I ain't ever seen a buffalo with wings, not even on a Greek vase.
Of course, they ain't buffalo wings, but Buffalo wings. We did stop off in Buffalo on one of our trips over, but didn't eat the wings.
You'ld get more meat on a buffalo thigh anyway.
Otherwise, what a bunch of craic this posting was. What WERE you guys on ?
PS the cure for male baldness is to grow hair somewhere else on the face - Matt Molloy looks fine the way he does it for example - so long as some facial skin is covered you still look human.
