My beloved came to visit and we had a mini-session, just the two of us, on the front porch of my on-campus apartment last night; he plays mandolin, I was playing fiddle. The campus was quiet, no one around. Then out of nowhere, these two weirdly dressed guys came dancing into view, wearing Obama and McCain masks. Of course, they hear a fiddle and think it's a hoe-down (duh, I know), so they were doing a hoe-down, hillbilly type of dance. So I switched to an old-time tune, Boil Them Cabbage.
Then I noticed someone with a camera.
Hope it doesn't go viral.
Ah, it sounds like a peaceful vision of hope and unity. The squabbling tribes unite at the sound of music for the good of the country as a whole, the stuff fairy tales are made of...
If I was a political pundit, the first question I'd ask would be: "Who was leading?"
But were they actually dancing together, or just "clogging"?
Of course, if two other people had shown up in Joe Biden and Sarah Palin masks, that would've been quite the event.
