time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

I was going through the request pile and noticed on the top of it a request for Dirty Old Town, the Ewan MacColl tune popularized by the pogues. I thought maybe I'd write it out because it's not a difficult tune, then I noticed that it claimed to have been requested by my account. On September 23rd, and in my time zone it's still the 22nd. I was given the option to delete the request and I did. What's the deal with that? Any instances of ghostly activity around here before.....

That's odd. Normally they just add random typos to perfectly-writtent posts.

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

I think you should wait until tomorrow and see if you request "Dirty Old Town"

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

I think I put that one in the Tunes base quite a long time ago!

I get the impression quite a lot of requests are made by people who don't check to see if these aren't already in the Tunes database.

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

Ooh, I've never looked at the tune requests before. I notice there's a request for 'Paddy Fahy's'.

tee hee

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

ha, I've never been there either, there's even one for "Wild Rover". I'm never going back there, it scares me. I will end up in a smoking pit of eternal damnation typing "Do you have the CD? Why don't you learn it off that?" for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ..... et-cetera

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

'The Manchester Rambler' ~ Ewan MacColl

So I'll walk where I will over mountain and hill
And I'll lie where the bracken is deep;
I belong to the mountains, the clear running fountains
Where the grey rocks rise rugged and steep.
I have seen the white hare in the galleys
And the curlew fly high overhead,
And sooner than part from the mountains
I think I would rather be dead.

I'm a rambler, I'm a rambler from Manchester way,
I get all my pleasure the hard moorland way.
I may be a wage slave on Monday,
But I am a free man on Sunday.

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

If it was a chicken or a "Crested Hen", would that make it a poultrygeist? (yes I know that is a fowl joke)

Swan up to me, I think. Ooh, how pheasant for me. Think I'll go grebe some beers - must be my tern.

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

Thank you benhall, I couldn't resist it and just had to give into temptation. I will try to behave better in the future.

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

Thank you, us birdbrains of a feather need to flock together.
Did any of you notice that when the first President Bush (George Herbert Walker) went on vacation, he never went quail hunting?

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

Well, if either Bush was near me with a gun I guess I would just duck and cover.

Re: time-travelling poltergeist in the tune request machine?

If either George H.W. Bush or his son, the Shrub, came near me with a gun, I would also try to disappear and/or hide.
I thought Crested Hens was a musical drink.
