Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

I'm a big of Martin Tourish's music and I was delighted to see such an innovative and creative musician win this years TG4 award. No doubt this is not the last we'll be seeing of Martin.

I noticed on his myspace page that 'That year also saw him make a guest appearance on the hit South African soap opera Isidingo, in which he both played and acted a small role.'

Does anyone know where I could see this clip of Martin's debut as an actor? There seems to be alot of actors who play music like Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Irons, Jessica Alba even! Can anyone think of any more?

My e-mails have the logo "Musician and Thespian" at the bottom.

Glad to know there is someone else, apart from me and Brendan Gleeson.

Re: Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

Dave Duffy (Taxi driver Leo in RTE's Fair City) is a mighty fine traditional fiddler.

Ha! Apart from a few roles as myself, I couldn't act to save my life. That's why I was on a soap opera! :)

Scarlett Johansson released a pretty good album of Tom Waits songs earlier this year. Don't be taken by some of the lacklustre reviews, it really is a 7/10 effort, in my opinion as a huge fan of the great man.

Tom Waits isn't a bad actor himself either.

Re: Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

Certainly not. This is me here. I've difficulty enough trying to play the accordion never mind trying to promote an acting career!

Don Baker, the genuine IRA man in the film "In the name of the Father", mighty blues harp player.

Re: Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

I seen Peadar O Riada acting in In the Wind that Shakes the Barley. He was pretending to play the concertina

And our own Ptarmagin was in the opening scenes of that Boys from County Clare movie, if I am not mistaken.

Re: Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

And Don Baker left me stranded in Greystones one night.

Most musicians I know north of Dundalk played in The Boys from the County Clare (straight to in-flight if I'm not mistaken!)

Re: Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

Peadar O Riada doesn't need pretend playing the concertina, he's actually quite handy at it.

Re: Martin Tourish actor and muscician?

I can confirm that. He was at a session at Hammy's flute weekend in Ballyvourney 2 years ago. Nothing flashy, just a nice, steady, tasteful player. That's always been enough for me. I can also confirm that "Ptarmigan's" life-style has not changed significantly since his dramatic debut. :)
