BBC Alba new TV station launched today UK/IRL.

BBC Alba new TV station launched today UK/IRL.

BBC Alba launched today broadcasting from ASTRA 2 28E. Promises plenty of Scottish music delivered through Gaelic. Probably, a Scottish equivalent of TG4 I'd say. Theres a good music program on now A Chuirm featuring lots of good Scottish musicians & singing just seen Julie Fowlis on the blurb.

The channel is available on Sky Digital UK on Channel 168 but can be added to any Sky Digibox in Ireland through the add channels feature.

Services- >add channels. Frequency 11.954 h 27500, 2/3 or indeed any free to air digital receiver. Should also be possible to receive it through most of Northern France.

Check out their homepage.

Too bad you need Sky or any cable-type capabilities to receive it. *sniff*. Saw the launch of it on BBC 2 last night and it was brilliant. They had music on for about 45 minutes or so -- Skipinnish, Julie Fowlis, etc, and then a Gaelic movie that was quite good.

Yeah its a pity the BBC iPlayer doesnt work outside the UK. You dont need a Sky subscription though. Any free to air digital satellite receiver will do or even an old Sky digibox.
