Certainly! Listening to tunes is crucial to the learning process! But getting it in your head is only part of the equation, unless you're so proficient on your instrument that you can play any tune in any key...
But if you are relying on that one clip as your source for a tune, and you end up trying to pull out Miss Monaghan in Eb instead of D in a session, people will look at you funny
Yeah ok I get your point, but I wouldn't have the skills to play it in Eb without an Eb whistle anyway... I learned it by ear in Eb and then played it in D.

If you think I'm too lazy to search for them... you're right, but at least I learned them by ear and I can prove it.

Re: Identify YouTube tunes
Funny, they are both fairly common reels. Everyone would know their names. Search before you ask on this discussion board.

Asking doesn't hurt anyone, or does it hurt your eyes Slainte? If you don't want to answer then don't do it. IMHO.

Re: Identify YouTube tunes
If you learned the tunes by ear from that particular recording, it might be helpful to know that they're tuned to Eb, not D...
Anyway, gotta love a session with one melody player, two guitars, and a bodhran

Re: Identify YouTube tunes
I know, but I like the video so much I watched it many times so the tunes stuck in my brain no matter the key. Isn't that a proper way to learn tunes?
