Re: Cavan Accordionist & fiddler Vincent Tighe RIP
Another sad loss. First time I met Vincent was when he was based in the UK and he adjudicated a Scoraiocht competition that our Bedford Branch took part in. Being involved with the music for the first time, I waited in fear and trepidation for comments in this area. His response was 'the music was grand but that there wasn't enough of it" which I took as a plus. He was a nice box player and was one of the musicians who'd regularly be found in a street session at the Fleadh.
Re: Cavan Accordionist & fiddler Vincent Tighe RIP
Vincent was a founder of our branch here in Coventry, UK, and many of the longer standing members knew him well, though I only met him twice at Scoraiocht here. We had a minutes silence for him in the middle of the session on Tuesday when we heard.
Re: Cavan Accordionist & fiddler Vincent Tighe RIP
Well my heart is broke to hear this news
when i first visited his home in 1986 He was down near the shores of lough Ramor following a fox he had saved from death as a cub ...although growing wild the animal still recognised the kindnessof the man........ and used to come at his call............and so he was FIRM ..KIND ..FORGIVING.. RESPECTFUL..FAMILY.....AND FRIENDLY...and no words can describe the best trad man I ever met ......... In my Garden grows a willow tree a slip he gave me ...he says Emmet ..I think its a willow but he man that sold it to me said plant it in a wet spot.......
Well Then my garden was all dry so I planted it at the top where I could see it every morning and night .......THANK GOD I NOW HAVE A REMARKABLE MEMORY.....and the story will go to my grand children....Emmet Quinn
