Anyone know of irish festivals in the above countries from Oct 08 until June 09...nothing showing in events diary..I like to plan ahead...cheers in advance
Hi Dave, there are a few festivals, concerts in Germany during that long period you mentioned. Pure Irish Drops festival will be in October. http://www.ffmusik.de/kuenstler.htm. Then Irish Folk Festival: http://www.irishfolkfestival.de/ and lots of other concerts. Let me know when and where you will be in Germany and I try to give you more infos. Also if you are interested in sessions - should you play yourself... All the best. Sabine
Well, those are touring festivals, and they feature many interesting artists. As a local festival Jena Irish Days come to mind: http://www.irischetage.de/programm.shtml
It may not be exactly what you wanted but some of it looks interesting to me. And I'd encourage anybody to visit east Germany if they can.
For gig and festival dates also see 'folker' online magazine's celtic section: http://www.folk-lied-weltmusik.de/export-celtic-bands.php?sessionID=
Preceding that by a week is St. Chartier, near Chateauroux. Indre - not an Irish music festival, but a veritable feast of traditional music and dance from all over Europe - and there will undoubtedly be people to play Irish tunes with there.
I've just noticed, however, that they are outside your time limits.

The principal Irish music festival in France is at Tocane-St.-Apre, near Périgueux, 3rd week of July:
