Am I mistaken, or is the opening 'Ril Gan Ainm' from the first set of Mary Bergin's 'Feadoga Stain' the tune 'The Yellow Tinker'? I was just listening to Altan's 'The Red Crow', which starts out with the set 'The Yellow Tinker / Lady Montgomery / The Merry Harriers' and thought I picked it up.

I can see now that I was hearing the similarities without ackowledging the differences between. A kind of similar lilt, but definitely different tunes.

no, it isn't the yellow tinker for shure. it is usually called mary bergin's.you could find more information in recordings section. marin
