Fancy a gig/session in Kent, anyone?

Fancy a gig/session in Kent, anyone?

I've been asked at rather short notice to get together a sessions-worth of players to do a sessionny kind of gig thing...a session, really, I suppose, at a beer festival, but it's this weekend, Saturday 16th August. I've contacted my regular people but with no great positive response. People of course are often away on holiday or festivals and so on at this time of year, and I had explained this to the guy who contacted me. Also, as it turns out, I myself may well be away this weekend anyway.
So there ye go, a free session up for grabs for anyone who fancies it.

What would you get out of it?

Well, apart from the pub being a lovely old country pub in a beautiful rural location, but still just a commuter-train's journey from London, you get to play endless tunes with your mates with a ready made appreciative audience. They DO want Irish music, I've been told.
I've been promised lifts from and possibly back to the station, endless free beers from huge selection of real ales, free portions of hog roast, plus the takings of a whip-round in the pub!

(So, I ask myself, do I really want to miss out on this?........)

Interested? Please email me first, via this website. Also please only get in touch if you really can play (ie not a learner) and can seriously get a posse of players down to this. I may well want to do it next year so want to maintain relatively good terms with the organisers.

Re: Kent sessions

I'll send you an e-mail separately for the details of this one but thought I'd take the opportunity to use a relevant space to put details of a "one-off" session at the Faversham Hop Festival

Date/time: Friday 29th August - 8pm onwards
Venue: The Bear Inn, Marketplace, Faversham
Map etc: www.faversham.org

contact number: 01795 590374 - 10am - 4pm Mon -Sat

no free beer as far as I know but there should be some sensible music - if the usual pattern is followed, an evening of reels interspersed with a few jigs for variety. one (not altogether friendly) listener remarked a few weeks ago - "I suppose you only play hornpipes when you've run out of tunes?"

No worries about the hijack, TT, and I got your email - will reply later today.

Hmmm...."sensible music"? - now what does that mean I wonder.... :-)

Key- You mentioned free lifts. Would they cover airfare from the US too?

....or maybe a free limo to the airport? Plus, obviously, all the food you can eat? NOW you're talking!

Hi Mark,If I toddled down from Elgin with my tenor mandolin and banjo, and played some (mainly )Scottish dance tunes, would ther be any chance of a bed for the night? I'm just off to see if my fiddling companion would also be interested, neither of us partake of alcohol,so there must be gallons of tea!Regards Charlie Hay.

Address to me via email any *serious* interest and I'll send your details to the bloke. I don't want to see someone who wants to promote the music let down.
