Trad News "As Gaeilge"

Trad News "As Gaeilge"

Firstly congratulations to "Lá Nua", the only daily Irish language newspaper, which almost died exactly six months ago (see thread at http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display/16644/comments#comment345328) but is still on the shelves. Today's copy has a great article on the Feakle Festival and box player Mairtín O'Connor and I understand that every Friday Josephine Mulvenna writes a full page feature on a traditional topic. Last February we were asking people to sign a petition for the Paper's survival and this seems to have been successful so far. Now the best kind of support we can give is to purchase a copy whenever possible, particularly for anyone with the "cupla focail". As has been said many times before, all strands of the culture including music, song, dance and language are equally important to the retention of our Irish identity.

Re: Trad News "As Gaeilge"

I must admit it's not that easy to find in that there's only 3 or so shops in Ennis that stock it. I often pick up a copy in the newsagents at Heuston Station, Dublin and I know a couple of shops in Blackrock where it's sold. I did have a contact for the Paper in Belfast a few months ago when the original crisis blew up who should be able to supply details on stockists. If anyone wants this information let me know your area and I'll try and get this information.

Is there any way to subscribe? I know several people here in the states that would love to be able to read it on a regular basis!

Know of anywhere in County Tipp or Kilkeny that stocks it? I would love to buy it.

And sligo fan is onto something, a subscription service would be great.

Re: Trad News "As Gaeilge"

That sounds a great idea Sligofan, particularly for anyone overseas. I've tried contacting the Paper but they're probably shut down over the weekend - hopefully we'll have some answers early next week.
