Waltzs' are great. Try 'Jewels of the Ocean' by Allan MacDonald. Here a youtube of it played in Bb (you'll need an F whistle for that - Generation do them for about a fiver) or play it in G on your own.
Matt Malloy does a lovely version of Drowsy Maggie as an air. Bothy Band do Maids of Micheltown, also a winner. I combine them as a set. How you adjust the tempo will dictate how "lively" they sound.
How about some mazurkas? My favorites are John Doherty's (which I believe is listed as Tommy People's on this website), and Sonny's.
Nice bright tunes, but not too fast.
And don't be afraid to slow jigs down, many work at any speed!

Lord Inchiquin is a nice lively tune, and not that hard.

This is maybe the kind of thing you're after -

- it's a sort of slow reel, coincidentally called The Air Tune.
